Getting started with the Tolven VM

Please note:  The Tolven Platform application is configured to start automatically when the virtual machine starts.  In order to use the application, just launch the browser from the guest operating system on the machine and follow the steps below to create an account.

    Create an account

    1. Browse to
      http://dev.example.com:8080/Tolven
    2. Log in using “demo” as the username and password.
    3. Click on “Create a new clinical or personal account”
    4. Select the Account Type, enter an Account Title, and select your timezone.  If you wish to add demo patients to your account, select the checkbox labeled “Add demo data to the new account”
    5. Click Create Account.
    6. You will be returned to the account selection screen.  Select the account you just created.

    Start the Tolven Platform

    1. From the terminal, enter
      cd /usr/local/tolven/tolvenOpenDS/bin
    2. Enter
      sudo ./start-ds

      using rhs as the password

    3. Enter
      cd /usr/local/tolven/tolven-jboss6/bin
    4. Enter
      sudo ./startTolvenJBoss.sh
    5. After the terminal window stops scrolling, open a browser and visit
      http://dev.example.com:8080/Tolven

    Stop the Tolven Platform

    1. From the terminal, enter

      cd /usr/local/tolven/tolven-jboss6/bin
    2. Enter
      sudo ./stopTolvenJBoss.sh

      using rhs as the password

    3. Enter
      cd /usr/local/tolven/tolvenOpenDS/bin
    4. Enter
      sudo ./stop-ds

Please remember that this downloadable virtual machine is for demonstration purposes only!  The administration account credentials are configured with the platform default values.  Do not store any Personal Health Information (PHI) in this virtual machine.  Furthermore, the Java virtual machine and PostgreSQL settings are configured for a light-weight implementation that will not support any production workload.

    Hi Bugmenot –
I’m sorry for the delayed response!

I have spoken to the VM engineer who was able to verify the download package and the checksum. I wonder if your download is not completing properly for some reason?

As an alternative, you can try downloading via FTP from our anonymous FTP server at http://ftp.r-hsoftware.com.

Please let me know if you continue to have problems and I can get the VM to you another way.

    Thanks!
    Brady

    Hi jsalto –

I’m sorry you are running into difficulty. Is the problem with the virtual machine or with the Tolven instance? If you want to post some more details to the forum, we can probably help you get going.

    Regards,
    Brady
